James Harold Henderson
James Harold Henderson. Born Aberdeenshire, Scotland Jan 11, 1876. Died June 1965, Hawaii. Son of John and Ann (Ogston) Henderson. Educated in Aberdeenshire schools. Married Lydia Lei Macy in Hilo Oct 23, 1909 (she was born June 11, 1890). Four children: Rebecca Lei, James Harold (born ca 1913, Hawaii) and Helen Lamb (born 1 Nov 1918, Hilo, Hawaii), John (born ca 1923, Hawaii). James was naturalized 6 Nov 1906 in First Circuit Court, Hilo according to the passenger list to CA.
Came to Hawaii in 1900 and began as a blacksmith at Wainaku, Hawaii, remaining six years. He is shown as blacksmith in 1900 census. Team Luna Hakalau 1906-1910, Head Luna. Hawaii Mill Co 1910-1912; appointed manager of same to succeed W H C Campbell, resigned 1 Oct 1912. Purchased Hawaii Mill from its owners H Hackfield and Company Ltd Sept 1915 and has since been general manager and owner.
Appointed member Fair Commission of Hawaii June 26, 1917; chief registrar 8th precinct, 1st representative district Jully 21, 1917. Member Hawaii Promotion Committee (Hawaii Tourist Bureau) 1917-1921. Plantation Manager, Hilo, Hawaii in 1920. In 1930 census he is a manager for an electric company. Was member and secretary of Hawaii Draft Board Division 1. Fire Warden, Hilo District. Life Member and Exalted Ruler BPOE #759, Hilo; Treasurer of the Kilauea Lodge #330 F & A M. Member of Aloha Temple, Mystic Shrine. Commercial Club Honolulu, Hilo Yacht Club.
He went many times to San Francisco, San Pedro, Washington and Canada, there may be a familial connection in those locations.
